Mobile radios, cellular phones, scanners and data transmitters require a stable DC power source to maintain data in their memory. An abrupt drop in voltage which usually occurs during engine start causes memory "dump" in micro-processors.
The Start-Guard solves this problem by providing supplemental voltage to sensitive electronics during engine start. It contains a sealed lead acid battery and a sense circuit which injects voltage into the transceiver's input when engines are being cranked.
The Start-Guard battery provides up to 8 amps @ 12 volts for 20 seconds, and is recharged from the vehicle's DC system when the engine is running.
The unit is installed inline with the power leads, close to the equipment being protected. Sense leads connect to the vehicle engine start circuit. Its compact size allows mounting beneath dash boards or in engine compartments. The sealed internal battery has a 5-7 year rating, and the rugged aluminum case assures survival in high vibration applications.
